Chuck Yeagers Air Combat under XP

Is it possible to run 'Chuck Yeagers Air Combat' under Windows XP? I assume it can be run in a dos window with the right compatibilty mode set, but I would appreciate some pointers in how to configure the sound and joystick settings (autoexec.bat!)
